This year, we made a real effort to come back from the COVID pandemic by working hard to get things back on schedule and get activities going again. We started many construction projects around town and distributed a lot of stimulus money among various businesses and nonprofits. Next year, we will look for even more of the same. We have momentum going now, and we’ll build on that momentum and get things done.
These past couple of years, I have experienced the resiliency of the people of Easton. Just look at how we’ve pulled together when there is a crisis, or when someone needs a helping hand, or if we need to support our school teams and take part in charitable drives. We must keep the “can do” spirit and keep Easton moving in the right direction.
I really enjoyed the Waterfowl Festival and the Christmas parade this year; they were outstanding. Fire & Ice is coming up, and the last time we had it, the financial impact was really, really good for the town. I’m looking forward to St. Patrick’s Day and Valentine’s Day and all the things that the town does around those days. I even have a hidden desire to have a fourth of July Day Parade! Maybe have a couple of cars and floats, get the school bands to play, and have people moving again in the summertime. We’ve been cooped up now for almost two years, and it’s going to take a while to get everyone back out, but I think we’ll do it. As far as my personal New Year’s resolutions, it is to get reelected and to continue to be Mayor of Easton.
Lastly, I’d like to wish everyone a happy and prosperous Holiday Season and coming New Year!
