Breaking News: Hummingbird Inn Gets National Recognition

Eric Levinson, owner of the Hummingbird Inn in Easton can add one more accolade to his wall of achievements: his bed and breakfast was selected by the CBS game show “The Price Is Right” as part of the Dream Vacation Giveaway. But whether it’s part of the big prize at the end or one of the initial prizes, we’ll all just have to wait and see.

The show featuring the Hummingbird Inn will air on Friday, March 5th at 11:00AM. But to get to this future date, there was a lot of preparation. It started around this same time last year, when Levinson received an email asking if he’d be willing to trade five nights at the Inn for national exposure via advertising and marketing from CBS.  This was a no-brainer. But like us, Levinson was curious as to how they chose both the area and his Inn. “I was told,” said Levinson, “that the Eastern Shore is becoming a pretty popular destination location for vacations. Apparently, what they do is look for top rated properties in the location they are interested and right now I’m number one in the area.”

They were all in the midst of negotiations; promotional pictures and information were exchanged. And then the pandemic hit putting a stop to all production. Fortunately, discussions picked up again at the end of the year, and contracts were signed.

Last week Levinson received confirmation as to air date. We wondered if he could let us in on whether there was a winner. No, he told us, he didn’t know, but if the contestant doesn’t win the prize, then it goes back ‘into the hopper’ and they will continue to market and promote it until it’s finally given away. “So, there’s multiple opportunities for national exposure,” says Levinson.

If there is a winner, the lucky recipient will select one of the six en suite guest rooms in this stately Queen Anne Victorian house and will get to enjoy sipping coffee on the striking wrap-around porch. Obviously, the winner will also be able to visit Easton and take back stories of the shops and wonders of the Eastern Shore.

As to how he will celebrate the moment of national renown, Levinson is contemplating a watch party on Facebook, although he realizes that an 11AM time might be difficult for some people during the work week.

So, will this be a one-shot brief moment of stardom for the Hummingbird Inn? Nope, not quite. Stay tuned as we leave you with some clues: spring time, Amazon Prime, and feature length film about a man whose father has left him a bed and breakfast, a woman he meets, and a woman he leaves. We don’t know who the human leads are, but we are certain we know what the bed and breakfast location is about.
