Dan Navarro’s music probes life at its most resonant. In his rich baritone, he sings songs of heart and insight, steeped in experience, soulful tales from a long road well-traveled. You know songs from his impressive body of work (like the Grammy-nominated “We Belong”, made famous by Pat Benatar), but Navarro isn’t one to rest on his well-deserved laurels. His acclaimed album “Shed My Skin” released last year in the US and in early 2019 in Europe to glowing reviews. During the 2020 Covid pandemic lockdown, he got busy and started his “Songs From the CoronaZone” live stream series, running almost daily for five months on social media. And last summer, Navarro released a special duo album with James Lee Stanley, “All Wood and Led”, with acoustic “Laurel Canyon” re-imaginations of Led Zeppelin tunes.
Working outside the confines of the traditional music industry, Ezra and his band, the Adam Ezra Group, built a fan community through sheer grit and determination, regularly performing hundreds of shows a year for the past two decades without any major label or mainstream radio support. Fusing folk intimacy and rock energy with soul power and pop charm, the band first emerged from Boston in the early 2000s and quickly garnered widespread acclaim for their bold, insightful songwriting and interactive, euphoric performances. From hole-in-the-wall bars and house concerts to sold-out headline shows and dates with the likes of Little Big Town, The Wallflowers, Gavin DeGraw, Train, and The Wailers, Ezra and his bandmates treated every single gig like their last, attracting a die-hard following that believed not just in the music, but in their commitment to activism and social change as well.
Drew Landry, an LA-based stand-up comedian and writer from Baltimore, started doing comedy when he was 13, and went on tour with Carlos Mencia (Comedy Central’s “Mind Of Mencia”) just two weeks after graduating high school. Recently named one of the official top 50 humor writers on Medium, Landry’s articles on Medium have received a total of over a million views, including his piece “I Have A Theory That Donald Glover and Childish Gambino Are Secretly The Same Person,” which went viral.
Fresh off his recent Grammy-winning release “Oklahoma,” the legendary Keb’ Mo’ returns to the Avalon stage! Over his quarter-century as a recording artist, Keb’ has cultivated a reputation as a modern master of American roots music through the understated excellence of his live and studio performances. The charismatic singer/guitarist/ songwriter and five-time Grammy Award-winner has consistently made music that reflects his own passions and interests. In the process, he’s established his ability to draw upon his bottomless roots-music expertise to make deeply expressive, highly personal music. Along with his original material, Keb’ has collaborated with a wide constellation of artists, including Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Jackson Browne, Natalie Cole, and Lyle Lovett, among so many more. But it’s his stellar guitar skills that are what distinguishes Keb’ from the rest. His guitar playing has garnered him two invites to Eric Clapton’s acclaimed Crossroads Festival and has even inspired leading instrument makers, Gibson Brands, to issue the Keb’ Mo’ Signature Bluesmaster and Bluesmaster Royale acoustic guitars.
Join platinum-selling singer/songwriter Eric Hutchison in a special solo show in the Avalon! Hutchison has performed across the country, sharing the stage with acts such as Jason Mraz, Amos Lee, Ingrid Michaelson, O.A.R., and Michael Franti. His single “Rock & Roll” earned him his first gold record in the United States and the song became a #1 hit in several countries. His new album “Before & After Life” is a complex, introspective, and jazz-tinged record that weighs happiness against sadness in a way that will surely resonate and surprise longtime fans of the singer’s pop-soul hits.
Garrison Keillor Tonight is an evening of stand-up, storytelling, audience song, and poetry. One man, one microphone. Keillor did “A Prairie Home Companion” for forty years, wrote fiction and comedy, invented a town called Lake Wobegon where all the children are above average, even though he himself grew up evangelical in a small separatist flock where all the children expected the imminent end of the world.

Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev. Russia has provided us with some of the most exciting and original music in the repertoire today. Vibrant colors, explosive energy, and passionate emotional drive characterize the works of these composers. Yet this tradition seemed to spring from nowhere barely 150 years ago, expanding meteorically in breadth and national confidence over an amazingly short period. While exploring the riches of Russian concert works, we also trace the turbulent historical movements that acted both as backdrop and engine for this fascinating musical evolution.
