    Keb’ Mo’

    Sunday, January 23, 2022 @ 7:00 pm
Avalon Theatre 40 E Dover Street, Easton, MD, United States

Fresh off his recent Grammy-winning release “Oklahoma,” the legendary Keb’ Mo’ returns to the Avalon stage! Over his quarter-century as a recording artist, Keb’ has cultivated a reputation as a modern master of American roots music through the understated excellence of his live and studio performances. The charismatic singer/guitarist/ songwriter and five-time Grammy Award-winner has consistently made music that reflects his own passions and interests. In the process, he’s established his ability to draw upon his bottomless roots-music expertise to make deeply expressive, highly personal music. Along with his original material, Keb’ has collaborated with a wide constellation of artists, including Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Jackson Browne, Natalie Cole, and Lyle Lovett, among so many more. But it’s his stellar guitar skills that are what distinguishes Keb’ from the rest. His guitar playing has garnered him two invites to Eric Clapton’s acclaimed Crossroads Festival and has even inspired leading instrument makers, Gibson Brands, to issue the Keb’ Mo’ Signature Bluesmaster and Bluesmaster Royale acoustic guitars.

Russian Masterworks: Music Lectures with Rachel Franklin

    Thursday, February 17, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Academy Art Museum 106 South St, Easton, MD, United States

Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev. Russia has provided us with some of the most exciting and original music in the repertoire today. Vibrant colors, explosive energy, and passionate emotional drive characterize the works of these composers. Yet this tradition seemed to spring from nowhere barely 150 years ago, expanding meteorically in breadth and national confidence over an amazingly short period. While exploring the riches of Russian concert works, we also trace the turbulent historical movements that acted both as backdrop and engine for this fascinating musical evolution.

The album is her most autobiographical work yet, both in content and creation. This collection of new songs represent a gathering of ideas and experiences, friends and collaborators. Yet, the album also marks a landing — a pause for the traveling musician and mother of two young boys who was seeking clarity in her calling and career. http://www.amyhelm.com/

    Miss Tess

    Thursday, March 10, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Avalon Theatre 40 E Dover Street, Easton, MD, United States

Defying genres while transcending eras and resisting clichés is what Miss Tess is all about. Drawing from jazz, country, blues and old-school rock and roll, she has employed all of her influences and talents on a tour-de-force, while cleverly taking standard perspectives and ideas, like the definition of a love song, to task.   However varied Tess’s music can be, front and center sits her voice that has been described as “alternately seductive and sexy, and a pure joy to listen to” (Pop Matters). Her music is further heightened by her partner, Thomas Bryan Eaton, who helps to shape the songs and arrangements with a deft touch on guitar & pedal steel.
