Jazz Alive 2022 Summer Concert Series – Vocalist Joanna Pascale

    Saturday, July 30, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Waterfowl Festival Building 40 S Harrison Street, Easton, United States

With Easton’s historic Waterfowl Building again remade with concert staging and lighting and a crystal- clear audio system, music lovers can enjoy some of the world’s finest jazz musicians in three shows as Jazz Alive renews it summer concert series!   The second concert of the Jazz Alive Summer Concert Series takes place on July 30, 2022 with Philadelphia-based vocalist Joanna Pascale, who insists that she cannot perform a song unless she can connect personally with its lyrics. But once she’s found that connection, there’s no one who can better convey the emotion of those words more directly and intimately than Pascale. A singer of sophisticated taste, profound expressiveness, and raw emotion, Pascale is also a gifted educator who is a member of the vocal faculty at both Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania.   The Waterfowl Building is at 40 South Harrison Street in Easton, Maryland.  Tickets are $48 and available at jazz-alive.org or at the door the day of the event. Students attend free with a Student ID. A cash bar will be available. A Date With History Speaker Series

    Wednesday, August 3, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Talbot Historical Society 25 S. Washington St., Easton, MD, United States

While it has been 70 years since the last Claiborne ferry connected Talbot County with the far side of the Chesapeake, the legacy of those days is still with us.  Claiborne’s multiple ferry lines – there were five of them over the decades serving four different destinations – literally put the town on the map. This lecture will describe the history of the Claiborne ferries: how they were generated initially by a political tug-of-war between Baltimore and Philadelphia, how Eastern Shore politicians used their statewide leadership positions to solidify Claiborne’s role, and how the ferry lines were shaped and ultimately made obsolete by technical revolutions in ground transport. It will also illustrate how the evidence of Claiborne’s days as a major ferry and rail hub can still be found all around us — if you know where to look. Lecturer Marty Bollinger is a retired management consultant and amateur historian, now residing in Claiborne. He has always had an interest in naval and maritime history and has published three books and several articles on the subject. His publishers have included the Naval Institute Press and the World Ship Society. The lecture is free for members and $5.00 for non members. Call 410-822-0773 or email for your reservation.

Avalon Theatre 40 E Dover Street, Easton, MD, United States

Originally formed in Ohio back in the ‘70s (and later adopted in Maryland as “The Beatles of Baltimore”), this beloved progressive rock band is still going strong with their unique balance of artfully experimental and methodically structured rock-n-roll.   Likening Crack the Sky to Steely Dan and the Tubes, Rolling Stone has called the band’s musical output “impeccable”, dubbing founding member John Palumbo’s lead vocals “chameleonlike, resembling Ian Hunter’s and Bowie’s.”
