“Gilbert took the stage, accompanied only by an acoustic guitar, a whimsical sense of humor, and an astonishingly smooth, pure tenor voice. But that proved to be more than enough.” Chicago Tribune
Vance Gilbert burst onto the singer/songwriter scene in the early 1990s when the buzz started spreading in the folk clubs of Boston and New York City about an ex-multicultural arts teacher who was knocking ‘em dead at open mics.
After Shawn Colvin invited him to tour with her, Gilbert took audiences across the country by storm, and there’s been no stopping him since!
Along with being the opener of choice for artists as varied as Aretha Franklin, Arlo Guthrie, and Anita Baker, Gilbert has also opened 140+ shows for legendary comedian George Carlin. Most recently, he’s the opener of choice for Paul Reiser and The Subdudes.
