SUMMARY:The Black Opry Revue
DESCRIPTION:The Black Opry Revue is a home for Black artists and Black fans of country\, blues\, folk\, and Americana music. This trailblazing Avalon show invites you to discover and enjoy an all-female line-up of Black artists who represent an intriguing versatility and diversity in sound: \n  \nJulie Williams: \nFearlessly forging ahead down country roads\, singer-songwriter Julie Williams is turning heads in Nashville’s country music scene with the soft but powerful songs that capture the soul of growing up as a mixed-race child in the South. Music has always been a part of Julie’s life—honing her singing talent in church and beach bars and belting national anthems before packed stadiums. Spicing it all up is influences ranging from The Chicks to Michael Jackson. \nDenetia: \nBorn and raised outside Houston\, Denitia’s Southern heritage forms a canvas for her evolving musical portrait. She grew up listening to the legends of country music and folk\, while leading choirs and spiritual awakenings at her local church. By five\, she was playing piano. Soon thereafter\, she brought out a saxophone and trumpet. When alt-rock became a thing\, Denetia picked up a guitar and joined the revolution. There’s no challenge too obscure for her to take on! \nRoberta Lea: \nWith a voice like cinnamon and a pen like butter\, Roberta Lea is a rising artist\, ready to give the world a taste of what she’s made of. Fellow artists have called her Hampton Roads’ best kept secret. It’s as though she’s a family recipe\, kept hidden until now. Pursuing music at 35 may seem like it’s a late start for some\, but for Roberta Lea\, she’s been slowly marinating and soaking in LIFE. Now that she’s ready to do music\, she has a buffet of songs that is sure to please. \nSug Daniels: \nSinger-songwriter Sug Daniels is a “high-energy and unbelievably engaging frontperson” (WXPN) who is using the tools around her to capture the emotions of an era. Daniels’ work is as colorful\, vulnerable\, and charismatic as her personality. She thoughtfully combines elements of folk\, R&B\, and low-fi alternatives to create personal and tender music interlaced with messages of truth and positive change. \nhttps://blackopry.com/

SUMMARY:Far Eastern Shore Winery : Pet Adoption & Fundraising Event
DESCRIPTION:Far Eastern Shore Winery invites you to join The Talbot Humane Society as they host some adorable adoptable pets on Saturday\, October 1st. Talbot Humane Society is celebrating 90 years of service. So what better way than to help find homes for current four-legged boarders and raise funds to help support this fantastic organization to continue to do what they do best? Take a peek at the current adoption list at (bit.ly/FESWTalbotPets) and submit adoption applications to (bit.ly/FESWAdoptEvent). Applications will have to be approved in advance for pet adoptions. Someone from the Talbot Humane Society will be on hand to answer questions and provide info on additional services that the organization provides at its headquarters not too far away from our Tasting Room. \n  \nVisitors are asked not to bring any existing pets\, as we do not want to startle the animals that will be at the winery that day. They will be collecting direct donations and offering Tasting Room specials for the weekend with benefits going to the Talbot Humane Society.
