SUMMARY:Captain Blue's Grass Band
DESCRIPTION:Part of EEDC’s Sounds of Summer! If acoustic folk/rock/americana is your thing\, have we got a treat for you! Captain Blue’s Grass Band from Delaware always puts on a fun show. Guitarists Josh Rose and C.J. Cutsail have enough talent each to carry the band on their own\, and putting them together with equally talented bassist Joey Todd to pull it all together makes for great music. And that’s before we even get to their vocal harmonies.\nCaptain Blue’s Grass Band can be found playing all over Delmarva\, and they’ll be treating downtown Easton to their music in Thompson Park Saturday\, July 17\, from 10 AM to 1 PM. Don’t miss this one!

His band\, Heartside\, has been playing and recording for years and\, between their shows and Sam’s solo gigs\, they’ve made quite a name for themselves locally as a great live act who are always in high demand. SUMMARY:Plein Air Easton
DESCRIPTION:Save the date – the 17th Annual Plein Air Competition and Arts Festival will take place July 11-18\, 2021. \nPlein Air Easton is the largest and most prestigious juried plein air painting competition in the United States.  Celebrating its 17th year in 2021\, the competition is held in Easton\, Maryland each July.  Plein air painters produce art from life (as opposed to in the studio). Artists from all over the United States and beyond apply to this competition beginning December 1st of the previous year.  There will be 58 competing artists painting throughout Talbot County\, Maryland the week of July 11th through the 18th.  Many of the world’s most accomplished artists have Easton at the top of their wish list of competitions and we will continue to set the bar for excellence in the coming year. \nThe pandemic brought special challenges to the planning process. While many events were canceled or accessible only online\, Plein Air Easton rose to the challenge and modified our normally highly attended event to ensure the safety of our artists and guests. Normally PAE events are scheduled throughout the week\, in 2020 our events were scaled down to include one major event and a gallery exhibition hall open to everyone. Our roster of artists was also scaled down to include mostly those who were geographically close to Easton. For all 58 juried artists in 2020\, their competition spot was promised to them in 2021 regardless if they were choosing to participate in 2020’s events. \nQuick Facts for 2019: \n\nArt sales for last year’s event topped $411\,000 with 365 paintings sold in 2.5 days.\nApproximately 6\,000-8\,000 people participate in the festival throughout the week\nIn 2019 the Collectors’ Preview Party alone sold a painting every 45 seconds during a 90 minute period.\nPlein Air Easton’s Quick Draw is open to any artist with $10 and ambition.  Nearly 200 artists paint for 2 hours in downtown Easton and the event culminates in an outdoor exhibit and sale along South Harrison Street.\nGalleries and arts organizations program demos\, workshops\, exhibits and lectures as part of the event. Next year an exceptional line up of reknowned artists\, PAE alumni and esteemed professionals in the art world will be sharing their talents and knowledge during the week of July 12-19.\nThe weekend of July 18th and 19th will feature an Artisan’s Market that will showcase Delmarva artisans displaying many different types of arts from jewelry to pottery to metalworks and much more.\n\nPlein Air Easton is at the center of the modern plein air movement.  Easton is making history and the work produced here has importance beyond the daily joy of seeing original artwork in your home.  We invite you to experience the vibrancy and artistic excellence of Plein Air Easton and to be a part of the history being made here.  Please contact the Plein Air Easton Information Hotline at 410-822-7297 or info@pleinaireaston.com for more information about how you can participate and/or show your support.

A world-class instrument of deft phrasing and purity\, a voice that knows when to hold back and when to dive in. A voice that knows the roots of American music inside and out; coming from a most unexpected place – a diminutive Korean-American with a deceptively girl-next-door demeanor. \nRaised outside Houston by first-generation Korean immigrant parents\, BettySoo grew up listening to the Great American songbook and country radio. Now at her own live shows or singing harmonies in sessions with Austin’s finest\, she sings with consummate loveliness and self-assurance. \nhttps://bettysoo.com/

SUMMARY:Peter Bradley Adams
DESCRIPTION:Peter Bradley Adams\nSunday\, June 20\, 2021 at 8 p.m.\nThe Avalon Foundation’s Stoltz Pavilion\n218 N. Washington Street\nEaston\, MD \nTickets:\n$50 Tall Table for Two\n$50 Patio Set for Two\n$100 Patio Set for Four \nPlease note that tickets are per table.  No individual seats sold. \n“…Adams fuses intimate\, emotionally powerful lyrics with graceful\, low-key roots-based indie folk…” All Music Guide \nAdams is an Americana singer-songwriter who tells tales of love and loss\, homes and hearts. The territory he mines is a deliberate mix of fact and fantasy\, but regardless of the details\, there’s always a philosophical bent that is often more under than on the surface\, firmly grounding Adams’ songs even as they stretch outward. \nHis brand of Americana nestles his often delicate\, always heartfelt voice in the warm embrace of gentle guitar\, tasteful dobro\, subtle banjo\, supportive bass\, and unhurried percussion. The result is a sonic scape that\, in turn\, wraps itself around the listener like a soft blanket on a cold day. \nhttp://www.peterbradleyadams.com/

DESCRIPTION:Alison Thoms: A Baltimore -Washington-Annapolis area musician\, Alison Thoms is a self-described “singer\, songwriter\, and strummer”. She is recognized by her\ndynamic\, wide-ranging vocals and relaxed\, gently percussive strumming style.\nShe brings a soulful and sometimes edgy style to her performance of original\nworks and her interpretations of rock\, pop\, country\, and blues songs written\nduring the last seven decades. Her rock-a-chill manner is said to capture the\nlikeness of Janis Joplin\, Bonnie Raitt and Mary Chapin Carpenter. \nA longtime performer\, Alison recently made her way to the recording studio\nwhere\, to date\, she has released 2 originals\, with a third due in August of\n2021. Her first single entitled “Just Getting Started” has been well received by\naudiences and is the A side of her first vinyl…the beloved seven-inch record\,\naffectionately referred to by her generation as a 45. SUMMARY:Martin Sexton
DESCRIPTION:“His outstanding taste in songwriting as well as a soul marinated voice that can easily be compared to the likes of a young Steve Winwood or Van Morrison.” Rolling Stone\nThis acclaimed guitarist\, singer\, and songwriter has an amazing vocal range and makes effective use of it on his recordings and in his live shows. Unlike so many other contemporary singer/songwriters\, Sexton’s vocal style can be described as truly soulful\, combining the best qualities of singers like Van Morrison\, Al Green\, Aaron Neville\, and Otis Redding.\nBack in high school\, Sexton was in a profusion of garage bands\, playing the music of the Beatles\, Janis Joplin\, Jimi Hendrix\, and Led Zeppelin. A decade later\, his original work would win him the National Academy of Songwriters’ Artist of the Year Award and he was sharing stages with Art Garfunkel\, Jackson Browne\, and John Hiatt on tours.\nSince then\, Sexton’s appeared in television series such as Scrubs\, Parenthood\, Masters of Sex and in numerous films\, though it’s his incendiary live show\, honest lyrics\, and vocal prowess that keep fans coming back for more.\nhttp://www.martinsexton.com/

SUMMARY:Vance Gilbert
DESCRIPTION:“Gilbert took the stage\, accompanied only by an acoustic guitar\, a whimsical sense of humor\, and an astonishingly smooth\, pure tenor voice. But that proved to be more than enough.” Chicago Tribune\nVance Gilbert burst onto the singer/songwriter scene in the early 1990s when the buzz started spreading in the folk clubs of Boston and New York City about an ex-multicultural arts teacher who was knocking ‘em dead at open mics.\nAfter Shawn Colvin invited him to tour with her\, Gilbert took audiences across the country by storm\, and there’s been no stopping him since!\nAlong with being the opener of choice for artists as varied as Aretha Franklin\, Arlo Guthrie\, and Anita Baker\, Gilbert has also opened 140+ shows for legendary comedian George Carlin. Most recently\, he’s the opener of choice for Paul Reiser and The Subdudes.\nhttps://www.vancegilbert.com/
