SUMMARY:Festival of Trees
DESCRIPTION:The annual Christmas Festival of Trees raises funds for Friends of Hospice to carry out its mission to benefit Talbot Hospice. Since 1985\, Friends of Hospice has donated over 3 million dollars to benefit terminally ill people living in Talbot County. Beautifully decorated Christmas trees with the Theme “A Winter Wonderland” will be displayed in historic downtown Easton’s Tidewater Inn and are either sponsored or are for sale over Thanksgiving Weekend from November 26th – 29th. The Festival will also include a fun outside holiday event on Saturday evening called “Carols by Candlelight.”

SUMMARY:Christmas Around the World December 2022
DESCRIPTION:ECAS will bring you the magic of Christmas in its concert this December.  Included are long time favorites like “We Need a Little Christmas\,” “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year\,” and a choral telling of “The Night Before Christmas” poem by Clement Moore\, complete with illustrations on two large TV screens.\n \nA portion of the concert will remind you that Christmas is celebrated in many places and in many languages around the world. Look forward to hearing one of the earliest arrangements of “Stille Nacht” (Silent Night)\, an Austrian carol that turned from obscurity to a major classic\, along with a traditional carol from Catalonia in Spain\, “Fum\, Fum\, Fum.” The hauntingly beautiful arrangement of “Twas in the Moon of Wintertime\,” one of the oldest Canadian Christmas Carols\, circa 1642\, tells the Christmas story through the eyes of the indigenous Huron people. “Brightest and Best” will feature a lively fiddle solo for a touch of Bluegrass. The choristers will close the program with “Christmas Day” – the rousing medley of Christmas songs by Gustav Holst. And that’s just to name a few!

He regularly performs around the globe with the leading orchestras and conductors of our time\, and gives recitals at major concert venues and festivals worldwide. \n  \nMr. Hamelin has composed music throughout his career\, with nearly 30 compositions to his name. The majority of those works—including the Etudes and Toccata on L’homme armé\, commissioned by the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition—are published by Edition Peters. His other most recent work\, Suite à l’ancienne\, was premiered in February 2021 by pianist Rachel Naomi Kudo with funding from her Gilmore Young Artist Award.

The winner of fourteen Grammy Awards\, he is celebrated both for his artistry in Latin jazz and his achievements as a classical composer. \n  \nBorn in Havana\, Cuba\, he performed at age 10 with the National Theater Orchestra\, studied at the Havana Conservatory of Music and\, at 17\, became a featured soloist with the Cuban National Symphony. As a founding member of the Orquesta Cubana de Musica Moderna\, he directed that group for two years\, while at the same time playing both the clarinet and saxophone with the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. He eventually went on to premier several works by notable Cuban composers with the same orchestra.
